Bugs, Birds, and Boxes

Yesterday I got out of bed and went straight here:

So, if the box on the right is the Ultimate Box of Rebellion,
what's the box on the left?

The Alternate Box of Rebellion?

Thoughts?

Anyway, since I was up there,
Mom went on the usual rounds without me.

When she finally returned home, I
was waiting for her...

waiting for her to let me outside, that is.

I enjoyed my patio time,

until Mom got mad at me for enjoying the
neighbor's patio too.

I spent hours after that sulking and begging
to be let back outside.

Finally something distracted me.
A little bump on top of a picture frame.

I recognized it from the night before.
I called Mom over so she could help me get a closer look.

I touched the lady bug, but that was about it.
I learned that, unless they're flying around the light,
ladybugs are boring.

Mom was more interested in showing me what was
on the door right near the ladybug.

It was a spider.
Certainly more exciting than the ladybug.
I knocked it down onto the floor and
began my assault.

It started off alright.
Then...

It turned out to be quite a vicious beast.
Mom finished it off, but only after
I had rendered it immobile.

Mom said it was faking and had begun to
move again.
Sure, Mom.  Sure.

After thoroughly investigating the bugs,
I returned to my post by the backdoor.

Much to my surprise, there was something out there!

I couldn't believe it!
A BIRD!

At night even!
On MY patio!

I wanted to pounce on it so badly,
but if Mom opened the door to let me out,
surely it would fly off.

Eventually it moved to the grass,

before flying away.

After that Mom FINALLY took me outside!

I must say, my nighttime recons are getting shorter.
It's that darn chill in the air.

So I had to attempt to amuse myself indoors once again.

It wasn't long, however, before I returned
to pining for the outdoors;

Hoping beyond hope that the bird would return.

Nighttime Adventures

Sunday I did it again.
I was in bed when Mom and Daddy left the house.
I was "still" in bed when they came home.

The only clue that I had moved in their absence
was the repositioning of Mimzy.

This time, instead of dragging her all the way to
the living room, I had put her in the usual spot.

Evidence that I missed my humans.

I was lazy most of Sunday and began to get restless.
I told Mom that I wanted to get out of the house for a bit.

She took me further out of the house than I had anticipated.

I enjoyed a nighttime car ride, but had to
complain about the chill of the wind.
Although, I complained more if the window was closed.

We ended up at Nice Boy's house.
Where, instead of hiding on the dining chair the entire time,
I began to explore the living room where all the
humans were hanging out.

I did find a chair I liked, but opted to
merely note it for future reference.

Monday was another story.
Well, more like the usual story.

Mom and I went to visit Nice Lady 1 in the office.
Once again I was kept on my leash.
After a long while, Mom did consent to letting me off of it.
I was good and didn't go to the forbidden plant.

Instead, I found my way down the hall where I
looked longingly through the door at my house across the way.

It got dark sooner than expected.
It usually isn't that dark when we're done visiting the
Nice Ladies.

Still, Mom put me on my tether an let me enjoy
the "yard".  If that's what you call that patch
of grass between my patio and the neighborhood sidewalk.

Before I knew it, Tornado Girl showed up.
She made some attempts to play with me.
She even offered me the condensation from the
side of her glass.

I wasn't quite ready to trust her.

So I patiently waited for her to leave before
asking Mom for a nighttime recon.

After much delay, I finally got it.

However, between the night wind, the
leaves blowing on the ground, and the
random noises from what I hope was human activity,
I became a bit unsettled.

So we went home.

After relaxing on Mom's lap for a time,
I became aware of a little bug buzzing around the
light in the living room.

I went to investigate and saw a ladybug up there.

Annoyingly, it was out of reach.
To add to the problem, the light was
a bit bothersome to look at.

So I had to give up.

I pondered this decision for awhile,

before returning to Mom's lap.

Once again, I slowly began to ooze down
towards the ground.

So I got up and tried to convince Mom to
do one of two things.

I would have accepted either some playtime,

or another recon.

Autumn Cold

Yesterday I went for a Caturday car ride.

At first, my 'car seat' was behind the driver,
but I couldn't see out the other side the way I wanted.

So, while we were stopped someplace,
Mom moved my seat to the middle.

I guess I liked it better.

When we went into the human stores,
I rode in my Traveling Bag.

I felt better in there today than on the leash.
There were so many humans, and the wind
was nippy and unpleasant.
The bag sheltered me from both.

After we came home for awhile,
Mom and Daddy decided to go out again...

...without me.

I felt lonely and left out,
so I put Mimz in the food bowl.

When Mom and Daddy finally came home,
I insisted on a nighttime recon.

Mom was compliant.

It turned out to be pretty cold by then.
So we didn't stay out long.

I didn't really care that it had gotten down
to freezing temperature.

After I warmed up in the house for a bit,
I stared at the door and meowed to go out again.

Mom was non-compliant.

After complaining for a long time,
I resorted to sitting on Mom's lap.

It was only temporary, of course.

I care not about 30°F!
I only care about getting my recon.
If I get it, THEN I will decide if it's too cold.

What's Halloween?

Yesterday was Halloween.
Whatever that means.

All I know is that it was colder than the day before.
Mom did the rounds without me.
I didn't care.

Well, maybe a little.

I got to sit outside and enjoy the sunset.

It was pretty awesome.

I looked eastward...

I looked westward.

Yep.  Awesomeness in both directions.

I became pretty sure there's a mouse living in the tasty plant again.
I went in for a closer look,

but didn't find anything.

Still, I was certain.
So I kept an eye on it as long as Mom would allow.

Eventually she called 'too cold to have the door open'
and made me go inside.

I was restless.

I called to Mom out of boredom.
She found me here:

She failed to understand what I wanted.
Really, I just wanted to have all her attention.

Right after Daddy came home,
someone knocked on the door that only Daddy uses.
The one we go out of to get to the car.
It was some random kid.
Daddy gave him candy.

Well, THAT'S weird.
I mean, that doesn't normally happen.
One random kid comes to the door no one else uses,
and he gets candy?

So I'm wondering, why do all the humans that normally
visit come through the other door?
Maybe they don't like candy.

I'm just chalking that one up to weird human behavior.

Meanwhile, back in the NORMAL world...

Mom saw fit to hang out with Computer Aunt again.
So I played in my toy box for awhile.

Eventually she joined Daddy in the living room.

She's always got a glass with liquid and ice in it.

I don't really care for what's on the inside,
I just want what's on the outside.

This was probably the third time in one
day I licked the condensation off her glass.

It wouldn't be the last.
I don't even care if she's trying to drink out of it
at the time.
That condensation is MINE!

After that I reluctantly settled down on her lap.

Regardless of how comfortable that was,
I was still very bored.

I slowly began to 'ooze' off her lap.

Slowly...

Finally I couldn't take it anymore and
started to play with Mimzy.

I apologize for the dark picture.
The lighting in the living room isn't great.

Mom keeps wishing for a good low-light camera.

And I keep wishing for undivided attention.

Priorities, Mom.  Priorities!
