Seasonal Changes

The snow melted.
So I went outside to see if there were salvageable remains
of my tasty plant.

With Mom's help, I found a bit.

The humans rearranged the office lobby for Christmas.
I must say, I'm greatly disappointed.
It seems they saw fit to move my chair to the
other side of the room.
So I have to settle for these chairs which
offer little in the way of cover.

I was, however, able to enjoy the nighttime for a little bit.
Although, Mom failed to take me for a nighttime recon.

Despite the lack of snow, the ground was still quite cold,
so I retreated to the door mat.

One day, Nice Lady 2 didn't come into work.
So I filled in for her.

No offense, Nice Lady 2, but I found your job boring.

I also got to see Auntie and Uncle.
Auntie even bought me a stocking for Christmas.
It's much bigger than the usual mitten.

I hope this means it will be filled with more nip!

Tonight the snow began to fall again.
I was concerned for a bit, then I realized I had
something bigger to worry about.

Mom and Daddy began packing.
Not only were they packing suitcases for themselves,
but they also brought out my road trip supplies.

I don't know if I should be upset that we're leaving the
comforts of home, or happy to be headed towards a warmer climate.

One thing's for sure, however,
I will be happy to give some comfort to Grandma after
the recent loss of her amazing cat, Duchess.

In memory of Duchess.
Born to a feral litter.
Loving cat to humans, skilled huntress, formidable opponent to cats.

The Absence of Mom

Sorry it's been so long since my last blog post.

I had been spending a lot of time in the office hanging
out with Mom and the Nice Ladies.

I was feeling at home enough to chase after the red dot.

I enjoyed watching the neighborhood from the window.

I spent a lot of time just chillin' on the sofa.

I sat there until the yawns kicked in.

Then I explored.
All was right with my world.

At home, however, something went terribly wrong.
Mom went and packed a bag.

Then she left me.
That's right...left ME!

She went visit Grandma and Duchess.

When I went there, Duchess and I didn't get along.
She was born to a feral litter and now she's an
18 year old indoor/outdoor huntress.

I can't say that I was happy to learn that she snuggled on Mom's lap.

I should be proud to have such an amazing cat in my family.

Mostly I'm just jealous.

How dare she snuggle with Mom in my absence!

Fortunately, after the longest week of my life,
Mom found her way home.

I was happy to have her home, but I remained aloof.

Not long after her return, Mom rearranged my living room.
She managed to increase my territory, so I guess it's okay.

While Mom was away, winter came.
Daddy and I had to endure a snowstorm.
Now that Mom's back, the snow is melting.
So, I ventured outside today and tried to enjoy some tasty plant,
but it's all dry and dead.

I hate winter.

At least, with all my humans home where they should be,
there's a warmth in my life.

Mom reassures me that she won't be leaving me again
for a very long time.
So I guess it's safe to look forward to Christmas.

Cold Weather Mood

The days have been getting colder and colder.
Which, of course, upsets me.
No more long afternoons enjoying some good patio time with Mom.
I must admit that I've been in quite a funk lately.

Mom has made efforts to cheer me up.
She and Daddy got me out of the house one day.

It did brighten my mood.

I've stolen little moments of time outside.
The problem is that the ground is cold on my paws.

So I try sitting in the window while the sun is shining.

Unfortunately, the sun does little to warm the cold glass
of the window.

Still, Mom has continued her efforts.
She sometimes brings the tasty plant to me.

This way I don't have to touch the cold ground outside.

I've also been spending a lot of time in the office with her.

It's warm in the office.
I've taken a liking to sitting on the couch where
I have a good view of anyone who might come through the door.

I can see all the windows from that spot.

If I don't like what I see, I can easily
make a break for my hiding spot under the chair.

Still...I'm bored.

So Mom starting bringing things for me to play with.

I also made an attempt to pack on some winter fat.
To my dismay, however, Mom wasn't cooperating.

She started doling out my food slowly throughout the day
so I wouldn't eat it all at once.
This resulted in an empty bowl.
EMPTY!!!
I protested by showing Mom how to put something into my bowl.

She stood her ground.
Stubborn human.
So, now my appetite has returned to normal.

At least the cold weather is good for some things.
When the Monday People come over they have coats with them.
Coats which they leave on the chair for me to snuggle on.
I took quite a liking to Other Uncle's coat.

Even when it was time for Other Aunt and Uncle to leave,
they were reluctant to ask me to move.
Instead, Other Aunt gave me tons of sweet attention.

At least my humans are smart enough not to disturb a depressed cat.

So, on Thursday I returned to the office with Mom.

I made sure to act reluctant and moody so she would put
forth the proper effort to please me.

She brought some tasty plant for me.

I was quite pleased with the training of my human.

When too many humans came into the office,
I retreated next to my chair of safety.

Then, Mom actually left me for a time while she
went on a daytime recon with Nice Lady 1.
She instructed Nice Lady 2 to take care of my needs in her absence.

Well, that was good.

So I made cute in front the camera for Nice Lady 2.

I also went to the window to watch for Mom's return.

Nice Lady 2 was even trained well enough to bring me my tasty plant.

I think I'm really starting to enjoy my visits to the office.

Just don't tell my humans, otherwise I may have to retrain them.

I also got Mom to take me on a nighttime recon.

So, I think I've learned the skill of acting just
depressed enough to get all the special treatment I want.
Except for the food dilemma.
Yeah.
I guess I still have to work on that one.
