Blustery Boredom

Yesterday was blustery.
Very blustery.

I hate the wind.
I was in no mood to get out of bed...

...so I didn't.

Mom even said that Nice Lady 2 told her
a tree had been blown down on the property.

A TREE!
Not a small one either!
A big tall aspen!
Taller than Angel's house.
(Well, what used to be Angel's house.)

Then, as if wind wasn't bad enough,
it started to rain.

I was beside myself with melancholy.

Mom and Daddy went out of the house a couple of times,
but all I could think about was this:

I eventually got out of bed and snuggled with Mom
on the couch.

At some point it occurred to me that I had done nothing.

NOTHING!

It's time like this when it's difficult
to get excited about my upcoming birthday.

Uncertainty

Yesterday, when Mom and I went to the
office to visit Nice Lady 2,  I explored a bit.

Then I decided to sit in the chair next to Mom.

Of course, I had a little trouble acting on this decision.

Mostly because my harness was bugging me.

Eventually I made the jump.

I think I spent more time preparing to be on the chair
than I spent actually sitting on the chair.

Then I did a bad thing.
I went for the forbidden plant again.
Mom got mad quick!
We went right home.

Mom figured I needed some greens,
so she went out to the Tasty Plant and brought me back a piece.
I made quick work of it.

Then we went out to the Tasty Plant together.
She picked me out another good piece.

I must admit, she knows how to pick them.

I chowed down.

Then I decided I wanted to choose my own piece.

I couldn't find one as good as the ones Mom picked.

So I spent some time just enjoying the patio.

After we had gone indoors for awhile,
Uncle showed up.
Then he and Mom went away.
I thought they were going to be gone a long time,
so I put Mimzy in my food bowl.
Sort of.

I was wrong.
They came back promptly.

So I got all hyper.
I pulled the back away from the recliner
and checked inside.

I ran around a bit.
Mom played with me a bit.

Daddy came home.
Uncle left.
Facetious Friday came over.
It was a hub of human social activity.

I claimed the roof of my box hotel.

I owned it.

Then everyone left me.
This time they were gone longer.

Fortunately, when Mom and Daddy came home,
Mom took me for a nighttime recon.

Unfortunately I got spooked when I heard
a person walking on a nearby sidewalk.

So I ran back inside.

After that I had to check the whole house to
make sure everything was O.K.

Then I settled onto the window sill...

sort of.

Well, sort of 'on' that is.

After that I just stayed close to Mom.

>^.^<

Restless

Yesterday I did nothing.
Mom didn't even take me to visit the Nice Ladies.

I got bored.
I got Mom to follow me around the house,
so I led her to the door.

I meowed, and meowed, and meowed...

Then I ran around the house.

After my romp I ended up right back at the door.

FINALLY Mom took me outside.

We didn't stay out long.
So I returned to being extremely restless indoors.

Fortunately Mom played with me.
Here's a little playtime montage:

After playtime I returned to my post and waited.

For hours.
Occasionally I wandered around the house,
but I always returned to the door.

Darn this cold weather.

I Guess I'll Snuggle

Yesterday I was unsure of what to expect,
so I began here:

As usual, Mom and I visited the Nice Ladies in the office.
I was oddly happy with this.
I think because it felt normal.

Although I spent some time under my chair,
I also spent time wriggling around on this chair by Mom.

I looked out the window by the table.

Then I looked out the other window.

Then that new teenager came over again.
That's right, Tornado Girl.

And because she read yesterday's blog...

and the comments...

well, Nissy, this one's for you:

I stayed on the back of the couch and observed her.

Then Wednesday Guy came and took both Mom and
Tornado Girl away.

Left to my own devices, I didn't put Mimzy in the food bowl.
That's right.
I said 'didn't'.

Instead I left her up on the bed.

When Mom and Daddy came home,
I immediately asked for a nighttime recon.

So Mom opened the door for me.
I thought it was odd that she didn't put
on my leash and harness.

Then I got a good look at the outdoors.

It was cold, windy, and rainy.
I decided I didn't want to go out THAT door.

So I asked to go out the other door.

Well, it was the same.
So, after much consideration, I gave up.

Mom felt a little sorry for me and decided
to give me some wet food...

...which I didn't eat.

After an apathetic attempt at play,
I curled up with Mom on the couch.

Then I got up,
ate a small bit of the wet food,
and returned to snuggling next to Mom.

All I could think about was...

winter's coming.

New Human

Yesterday began quite normally.
I was hanging out in the office as usual while
Mom visited with Nice Lady 2.

I went under my chair.

Remember my chair?
This is actually an older picture of me under my chair:

Well, while I was under there, something different happened.
One of the Teenagers showed up.
Well, not THE Teenagers I'm familiar with.
This one was new to me.
Mom seemed to be well acquainted with her.

I heard Mom call to me and say it was time to go home.
She lifted the flap on the chair.
It was then that I saw the teenager.
It was also then that the teenager saw me.

She was very happy to see me.
She called to me too.
Then she reached for me.

Now, when I say 'reached for me' I mean this:

I ended up backing out from under the chair.
I was out and she was under.
I didn't know WHAT to think!

She followed Mom and I home.
As it turned out, she stayed and hung out with Mom for
quite some time.

I think Mom called her tornado or something,
so I'm going to call her the Tornado Girl.

Even though she was talkative and energetic,
I didn't really feel threatened.
I DID go into my Box of Rebellion for a bit,
but I was curious about this new human.

Her movements were clearly playful,
so I let her use my fish toy to play with me.

Mom brought out Mimzy to entertain me while
she and Tornado Girl sat in the living room and talked.

When I was done playing with Mimzy, I used her for comfort.
Clearly Mom wasn't going to watch over me while I ate.

Then I went back into the living room and watched
them from the back of the couch like this:

Right when her dad came to get her at one door,
Daddy came in through the other.

So things were back to normal.

After awhile Mom decided I could use some attention.
So she took me for a nighttime recon.

Which, of course, was awesome!

It was quite chilly outside, so Mom wasn't
willing to stay out for too long.

As soon as we got back inside and Mom took
off my harness, I begged to go back out.

I accepted Mom's answer of "nope, I'm done"
and stayed close to her for the rest of the night.

I have to admit, it was a pretty interesting day.
