The Many Uses of Sofas

(3)

Yesterday morning I chose to leave
my bed and curl up next to Mom.

When she was ready to get up, I was reluctant to allow it.

I just wanted to stay in bed all day.

But Mom got her way.

I was fairly well behaved while we visited
the Nice Ladies in the office.

Eventually, however, those kids went
by on their skateboards.
I got so scared I squished under the sofa.

I stayed there until Mom said it was time to go home.

Of course, I was fine once we were home.

Daddy came home fairly early!
Then Monday Aunt showed up...
on the wrong day again, I might add.

After Monday Aunt visited for a couple of hours,
she went home.
Shortly afterwards Mom and Daddy left.

When they came home I greeted them briefly.
Then I tried my best to ignore them by staring
past Mom to see outside.

This, of course, was my attempt to get Mom to take
me out for a nighttime walk.

I say "attempt" because it failed.

So I resorted to rummaging around in the sofa.

Nope, no toy in there.

I know you're going to ask,
so, no.
No I didn't find any change.
Seriously, humans, what would I do with change?

Everyone knows cats don't like change!

Mostly Melted

(2)

Yesterday almost all of the snow had melted.
So I enjoyed a little sun time in the window.

I struck a couple of different poses for Mom
to take my picture.

When we went to visit Nice Lady in the office,
Maintenance Guy 2 was in there.
I remained calm.

After we went home,
Mom let me sit outside for a bit.

When I came inside, she got out Mimzy.
I watched intently.

Yes.
Yes it is O.K. for you to talk about how cute I look.

Eventually Mom started throwing Mimzy across
the room so I could run after her!

I loved this game!

Of course, it wasn't long before I was reminded
that it was Wednesday.

So Mom left me for a few hours.

When she and Daddy came home,
I got some good snuggle time on Mom's lap.

Mom was surprised because I'm learning to be content.
My tail wasn't moving!

Of course, I haven't mastered the art of contentedness yet.
My face:

Mom kept moving her legs,
so I tried to make the best of it.

My face when Mom's legs aren't stretched out
the way I like them:

Well, at least the nice weather might be returning.

Stupid Weather

(1)

Yesterday I sat up and glanced outside.

Snow.
Really?

Stupid weather.

Mom and I got ready for our usual trip to the mailbox.
Because of the stupid snow, Mom put me in my Traveling Bag.

No wet ground for me!

We visited Nice Lady in the office.

"Hello, Nice Lady!"
I was pretty chill for once.

Nice Lady tossed something on the ground
for me to play with.

I looked at it, but chose to ignore it after that.

Then a bunch of strangers came in.
They all seemed to like me.
I guess I'm pretty darn cute.

When Mom and I went home,
I spent most of the day on my chair.

Have I mentioned the stupid weather?

I got up to look around once in awhile.

I enjoyed a bit of time on Mom's lap,
but eventually returned to my chair.

All I can say is...
This stupid weather had better not last.

They Came Home!

(1)

Late Sunday night Mom and Daddy came home!

I was so happy!

When I woke up yesterday morning I thought
maybe I had dreamt it.
But Mom was really home!

I soaked up all the loving she was willing to give.

Then it was back to our old routine.

When we got to the office,
I clung to Mom.

I didn't care if it made it difficult for her
to talk to the Nice Ladies.

When we returned home,
Mom let me enjoy the outdoors for a bit.

While she was on the phone,
I got restless and began to climb on things.

After Daddy came home from work,
Monday Aunt showed up.
Then we all went out.

We went to the pet store.
I tried out one of the cat trees.

Monday Aunt wished she could adopt a kitty.

There were a few there hoping for homes.

I just growled and hissed at them.

Mom tried to explain that it wasn't nice to growl
and hiss at the poor kitties.

Mom just doesn't understand my point of view.

The pet store only had my food in the enormous size,
so we didn't get any.
Mom says she'll get me some at a different store.

Then we went to a human store,
so I got into my Traveling Bag.

I was pretty content in there.

Once we walked outside,
I stuck my head out into the night air.

I do love nighttime car rides!

When we got home,
all the Monday people came over.

Soon, most of the humans dozed off in their chairs.
I searched for an available lap.

None of the humans were sitting right,
so I chose the most comfortable one I could
and settled onto Monday Uncle.

He was sound asleep.

When he woke up,
he was happy I had chosen him.

He offered the appropriate amount of gratitude.

Once everyone went home,
I curled up next to Mom.

Mom says they're not going to go anywhere
for a long time.
She had better be telling the truth!
