Not the End

Yesterday wasn't so bad.
Mom stayed in the bedroom with me
for much of the day.
There was just one time when she left the room
that I got a bit nervous and hid under the bed.
Truthfully, the noise from the people tearing
apart the pool area wasn't too loud.
I guess it's not the end of the world after all.

With Mom keeping close by today, I felt at
ease enough to enjoy a bit of my tasty grass.

When the noise makers finally left,
I got brave enough to go outside and see what had changed.

I was a bit disappointed to find that it was a
cold and drizzly day.

Well, if THAT was the case, I'd just
assume stay indoors anyway!

When Daddy came home later,
I was very happy to hear him getting
into a can of tuna.
I was even more happy when he
gave me the tuna water.

That made up for having a bit of a rough day.

Eventually night fell and the rain turned
into snow; giving further cause to
remain indoors.
I guess it's not the end of winter.

So I decided to enjoy the new penthouse addition
on my box house.

I enjoyed a bit of playtime while I was there.

I tried napping there as well,
but, as it turns out, the spot
by the window wasn't the warmest.

So I moved to the back of the couch.

It was closer to Mom and Daddy anyway.

End of the World?

Well I guess Tuesday night was my last
moment of normalcy.

After getting a little play in,
I settled down near Mom per usual.

I was happy and I was cute.

Then came Wednesday...
and an annoying noise.
Annoying, yet tolerable.
It seems some changes were being made around the pool.

I watched from the safety of my Alternate Box of Rebellion.

The troubling thing was that Mom said it would be worse
when Thursday came.

Well...IT WAS!

I was sure the world had ended.
The noise was like nothing I had heard before.

To make matters worse, Mom LEFT me!
Sure, she apologized profusely both before her departure
and after her return.
That did little to calm my frazzled nerves.
At first I tried the watching from the Alternate Box
of Rebellion as I had the day before,
but it wasn't enough.

So I retreated to the bedroom where the sound was
much more bearable.
Mom tried to make sure I had all my comforts before
she left me.
She gave me Mimzy next to my food bowl.
She even brought my box hotel, (new penthouse included),
into the bedroom for me.
Despite all of her efforts, however, my nerves were still shot.
By the time she returned home the pool area was
unrecognizable.

I tried to take comfort on her lap for awhile.
Then, not long after Daddy returned home,
Mom left AGAIN!
What is going on here?!
At least this time Daddy stayed home with me.
When Mom finally returned home,
I tried once again to settle onto her lap to soothe my
frayed nerves.
At some point a person walked by our windows.
A perfectly normal event, to be honest,
but I jumped up, kept low, and scuttled to the hallway.
From there I peered into the living room to see if it was safe.
Mom was quick to try to comfort me again.
I just don't know if I can handle this.

Eventually I claimed the recliner for myself
and tried to regain my composure.

I tried to tell myself it would all be alright.

"Really, Self, it will all be ju-u-st fine."

Some how myself is not convinced.

I can't help notice that Mom hasn't given me
any assurances that Friday will be any better.

Playtime

Yesterday, after my visit to the Nice Ladies' office,
I wandered over to the tasty plant.
Unfortunately it still hasn't turned green.

So I decided I needed a good roll on the sidewalk.

I got myself good and dirty!

Mom didn't seem interested in staying outside for very
long at all.  I suppose it MIGHT have been a
bit chilly for someone without fur.

After staying indoors for the rest of the day,
I became restless.
Of course, that means I started running around the house.

Mom decided to help out by playing string with me.

I really got into it for a bit!

Then she found out that my hideaway
fits snugly on top of my box hotel.

Well!  I just HAD to investigate THAT!
So we played there for awhile.

I decided that I like having it so high up.

Yep, this will make a good napping spot.

A Hint of Winter

This weekend winter tried to return.
It even tried to snow.
Thankfully, not enough to stick to the ground.

Mom, Daddy, and I tried to fight the winter by going
on a nice Caturday outing.

After wandering around a couple of stores,
we noticed that the sunset was even happening an hour
earlier because the clouds were so low.

So we drove to that place Mom goes to on Wednesdays.

From there we had a great view of the sunset.

Although, after getting out of the car for a bit to
look at it, Daddy and I decided the view was better
from inside the car.

Mom alone braved the bitter nip in the wind.

Eventually the sunset began to fade.

So we drove home.

Admittedly, I really enjoyed my car ride.

Once home, Mom and Daddy played with me.

I had a blast!

Sunday, however, was a different story.
While winter still tried to hang on, the humans settled
into their 'do nothing' winter mode.
I didn't really feel like I was getting the attention I needed.
So...

I ate dinner with Mimzy.

Maybe the new week will bring back the spring weather...
as well as my humans' springtime mood.

Another New Year?

The past couple of days have been uneventful...
for me anyway.
I began my days with a nice sit in the window.

Followed by a brief time in my Alternate Box of Rebellion.

On Thursday Mom went crazy spring cleaning, so I settled onto
the back of the couch for a good long nap.

Eventually I began to think about a change.

A thought process which took awhile.

Mom had finally sat down, so I thought about
climbing onto her lap.

Not quite the right angle of approach.
She wasn't sitting in the good chair,
so I found it difficult to settle in.

Nope.
Finally I found a mostly acceptable position.

Apparently it's also been Chinese New Year.
So Uncle as well as Other Aunt and Uncle have
visited for the past two evenings.

Friday Mom actually left me for hours.
When she and Daddy returned, they smelled like
Chinese food.
Well, I wasn't interested in any of that.
Where's my new year's catnip?

I was extra disappointed when human social hour
came about.
I went and sat alone in the dining room for awhile.

Now, I know I look really upset in that photo,
but the truth is that I was at the end of a good yawn.
I was incredibly bored after all.

After asking for some attention, (to no avail),
I joined them in the living room.

After the excess humans left my house,
I decided there was nothing left to do except return
to my spot on the back of the couch.

So tell me... when's the year of the cat?
