Rumor is... the Fish Bites

Yesterday I chose not to go on the usual
rounds with Mom.

When she came back, I spent some time out
on the patio looking for the mouse,
but eventually I got chilly
and opted for the warmer window.

After a few dashes around the house, I curled up
next to Mom for a warm nap.

Of course, sleeping made me thirsty,
so I wandered over to my favorite watering hole.

Now, I want you to notice how the fish
swims right up to my tongue.
You'd think I'd be happy about that.
A little taste of actual fish.
No.
The truth is, Mom tells me the fish
is trained to bite.
One of these days my tongue is going to get nipped.
Worth it?
Yeah...it's good water.

The rest of my day was spent sleeping.
Too bad it couldn't end...

...with a nighttime recon.

Easter Snow, Monday Rain

Easter Sunday Mom and Daddy let me join them at
the table.  They do this because they know I have
no interest in human food.

I had already prepared my Easter dinner earlier that day.
Mmmm...bunny.

So, while they ate their dinner, I kept to myself.

I not only had a good view of the table,
but also a good view out the window.
Unfortunately, the view out the window was snow.

So I curled up to take a nice warm nap.

The next day Mom opened the new bag of cat food.
It had a bonus kibble in it.
I mean...look at the size of that thing!

I had no idea how to eat it, so I left it alone.

Later in afternoon, I resumed my quest for the mouse.

I didn't even care that it had begun to rain.
I just huddled under the overhang and kept alert.

That night, when the Monday People came to visit,
I tried to convince someone...ANYone, to let me outside.

No one seemed to care.
Sure, they looked at me; talked to me and about me,
but failed to give me anything I cared about.

Even after they'd gone, I tried to convince Mom
that I needed a nighttime recon.

She didn't take me.

Instead, all I got was my claws trimmed.
My claws!
Sigh.

Chilly Days

Friday was disappointingly cold.

As a result, I spent much of the day indoors.
I was unhappy with the water in my bowl and
sought out a more...appealing flavor.

I also found ways to expel some of my restless energy.

Saturday was a bit warmer.
At least, the south window sill was warm.

Unfortunately I didn't get to stay in the window.

That's right, we went on a Caturday outing.
I was less than pleased.

Sure, it meant a new bag of food,
but did I have to go pick it out?

Well, after awhile I decided it was nice to
be out in the world.

By nightfall I decided the chill didn't matter.
I wanted...no...I NEEDED a nighttime recon.
I got it.

There was quite a bit of human activity out there,
so I took up a post at my north window.

Well, it wasn't ideal, but it would have to do.

I hope the warmer spring weather returns soon.
Let's face it...I've got plans.

This Again?

Wednesday was still cold.
That didn't stop me from checking on the
mouse's habitat.

I'm starting think it doesn't spend much time there.
Fortunately, the tasty plant is slowly turning green.
So I started munching on it.

Nice Lady 1 came to see me as she left work.
I was too engrossed in the tasty plant to pay her much attention.

Then, I realized she was walking away and felt a little
guilty for ignoring her and looked back.
Of course, I didn't stop munching on the plant.

Mom complained about the chill in the air
and called me into the house.
I took one last look to see if the mouse would
make an appearance.

It didn't.

Thursday I visited Nice Lady 2.
Although, I didn't really feel like hanging out
in the office.

I sat impatiently by the door.

Finally I was allowed to go outside and check for
the mouse again.

Wednesday just seemed to be repeating.
No mouse.
Tasty plant.

Hey, maybe it was Wednesday again.
Maybe I'm stuck in that movie,
Groundhog Day.

Oh, but the Nice Ladies changed.
So maybe not.

When it got dark, I asked for a nighttime recon.
Hey, I did that on Wednesday too...hmm.
Well, I hoped it wouldn't have the same result.
You see, on Wednesday Mom refused to take me
for a recon.

The good news is, the night didn't
repeat itself.

That's right, I got to go on a brief nighttime recon!

Fickle Spring Days

The past couple of days were drastically different.
Monday was warm and wonderful.
I spent a lot of time outside hoping the mouse
would make a mistake.

The Monday People came over and celebrated Daddy's
birthday...even though he came home really late.
Other Aunt hung streamers up in the living room.
Having never seen streamers before, I didn't trust them.

The next day was cold.
Cold, windy...and it hailed.

Still, I made the most of it and spent a little
time outside.

Despite the chill, it was still a beautiful day to look at.

I enjoyed my perch on the air conditioning box
under the window until Uncle arrived.

That's when he took Mom away and I was left alone.

So I turned to my usual security devices.
I put Mimzy in my food bowl...

...and Yoda Mouse in my tunnel.

When Mom came home, she tried to convince me
that the streamers were for playing with.

I had my doubts.

When Daddy came home, I curled up on his lap
for a good nap.
Unfortunately he had to get up, so I took the chair
in his absence.

When he came back, I was unwilling to share and
hissed at him.
Well, that didn't get me what I wanted.
Daddy took the chair all for himself.
I ended up on the couch next to Mom.

The blanket was all bunched up and a bit uncomfortable,
but I was determined to make it work.

I was still agitated on the inside.
I even took it out on my own tail.

Fortunately, Mom did a good job at calming me down.

After shedding my bad mood, I agreed to Daddy's
terms of sharing the chair...

...and returned to him.
